Our materials each have a sustainability credential, selected for transparency and accessibility to the small brand. Our partners range from the world’s largest sustainable standard for cotton to some of the most advanced cashmere mills in the world. Our manufacturing partners are also, just generally, ethical; the provision of dignified work for our machine technicians is among our highest priorities.

Our approach to sustainability is rooted in our experience connecting large format Western retailers with manufacturers. Retailers lack visibility into inventory turnover, and collections are often designed far in advance of their end market. Purchasing decisions are based on unpredictable sales forecasts, with the expectation that low-priced products can be discounted or written off without significant impact on margins.

We take a tech-driven approach to design that replaces traditional processes. No more old-school yarn and garment sampling. By going digital, we minimize the marginal cost of production, enabling designers to design broadly without worrying about minimum orders. Why does this matter? Well, when we make clothes that don’t sell, it’s a waste of resources, even if they’re sustainable. We focus on validating the market first, before investing in inventory.

Our goal is to promote creativity and diversity in the fashion world because we believe that clothing should be made by and for the people who wear it. That’s why we’ve created Knitup, our digital platform that operates without minimum order quantities. By lowering the capital required to participate in fashion, we aim to enable inclusivity and drive sustainability in the industry.
